Dr Prakashkumar (Prakash) Maiyani is a dual-trained Geriatrician and General & Acute Care Physician dedicated to delivering compassionate, comprehensive, and evidence-based care for older adults. He is committed to supporting patients and families through the complexities of ageing, with a strong focus on dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Dr Maiyani completed his medical degree at Tianjin Medical University, China, followed by extensive physician training across major Queensland hospitals. This broad clinical experience has equipped him with strong diagnostic and management skills across acute geriatrics, cognitive disorders, multimorbidity, and complex medical presentations in older adults.
He currently practices as a Geriatrician at Ipswich Hospital, where he provides specialist care including comprehensive geriatric assessment, multidisciplinary care coordination, and clinical leadership in managing behavioural and cognitive challenges in older adults. He is also actively involved in supervising junior doctors and contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Maiyani is an Associate Lecturer with the University of Queensland and is actively involved in the education and training of medical students.
Dr Maiyani is passionate about person-centred care and works closely with families, carers, and community providers to ensure safe, coordinated, and holistic support for older adults.
Practice Locations
Dr Prakash Maiyani’s private consulting rooms are located at Beyond Specialists Brisbane, St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, Kangaroo Point. Dr Maiyani is also accepting referrals to various Residential Aged Care facilities within the Brisbane region (Bulk Billed). Referrals are welcome via Medical Objects or via Fax to 07 3184 3492.
